How might we utilize our maker spaces to develop Entrepreneurially Minded Making (EMM) activities? Dr. James Brenner, Chair of Florida Institute of Technology’s Nanotechnology Minor Program, has published several Cards related to Makerspaces, including: Computer Programming for Makers CardDeck: EM Resources for Makers CardDeck: Laser Cutting and Vinyl Cutting Focused Maker Activities; Basics of Making CardDeck: Making Activities – Other Classes CardDeck: 3D Printing Focused Maker Activities CardDeck: EML/Making Integration into Three Credit Courses CardDeck: Incorporation of EML/Maker Activities into Robotics & Mechatronics Courses volved in making early in their academic careers.” The project team ensures transferability and scalability by using the modules in various settings and sharing feed- back. This will inform the instructor guides and allow for continuous improvement. The goal for Florida Tech and its partner schools is to graduate engineering students with extensive practical experience that builds skillset and mindset. Makerspaces are an underutilized resource, and these teaching tools will hopefully inspire others to use and improve on them for the benefit of KEEN engineering graduates.
